Licensed Shared Access (LSA)

LSA simultaneously uses carrier aggregation with two different licensed frequency bands to increase throughput.

One of these bands is the regular frequency band typically used by cellular operators such as 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 1700/2100 MHz.

Other frequency band is borrowed from an incumbent user. (For e.g., some satellite service providers may have a license to operate a given frequency band in a large area but may not be actively using the frequency band in a given geographic area.

The cellular operator can now use the spectrum that has been authorized along with regular cellular bands.
